The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is a downtown waterfront resort that offers you breathtaking views of downtown San Diego and the San Diego Bay. We offer a competitive pay rate and a complete benefits package; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off, retirement plan, employee discounts, employee assistance program, and complimentary meals are provided.
The salary for this position is $70,000 per year.
Work Hours
  • Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs.
  • Scheduling includes holidays, nights, and weekends depending on hotel events and functions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Hospitality Management, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in retail management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Sound financial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and retail software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales, achieve targets, and maximize profitability.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Operations Manager:
  • Oversee all aspects of retail operations within the hotel, including but not limited to merchandise selection, inventory management, pricing strategies, and sales promotions.
  • Develop and implement effective retail strategies to drive sales, increase profitability, and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards to maintain operational efficiency and excellence.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise retail staff members, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high levels of productivity and professionalism.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the retail team and monitor performance against established targets.
Guest Experience Enhancement:
  • Maintain a strong focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences by providing personalized service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly, and resolving issues effectively.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance the retail environment, such as visual merchandising displays, product demonstrations, and special events, to create memorable shopping experiences for guests.
  • Solicit feedback from guests to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate measures to enhance overall satisfaction.
Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for the retail department, analyzing sales data and trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings.
  • Monitor expenses, control inventory levels, and optimize pricing strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, to develop promotional campaigns, cross-selling opportunities, and revenue-generating initiatives.
Vendor Relations and Product Procurement:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the corporate team, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality merchandise at competitive prices.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and agreements with vendors, monitoring performance and compliance to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market demand, and emerging products to make informed decisions regarding product selection and procurement.
